Play Sand

With the warmer weather approaching we have been thinking of what we can add to the garden for the twins. The hand me down little tikes coupe, gardening with Mama and singing “we’re going on a bear hunt” wasn’t going to see us through summer!

We found this great deal on Kijiji for the Step 2 Crabbie Sandbox and Crayola Play Sand. They’ve been loving it and playing in it for what feels like hours in Mummy Land.

However before buying the sand box we were really disturbed by what we found out about play sand. The most commonly found play sands are actually made from ground quartz. Quartz is the most common form of crystalline silica, which  is a known respiratory carcinogen. The issue with these play sands is that the silica quartz particles are so fine that they are easily inhaled while playing and can be harmful to health. Happy Playing xx
